ABOUT THE DOLLS

The dolls pictured on these pages are representative of the original art dolls created by Marion. Please Plan Ahead if your doll is for a special occasion. Dolls are made on order and handmade dolls take time. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. If you do not see the particular doll subject you have in mind, please write or call. Your special doll can be created for you. Special requests require a deposit.

Each doll is individually handmade. No molds are used in the process. Dolls, clothing, beadwork, and accessories are all made by the artist. Heads, hands, feet, and legs, sometimes upper torso or even the entire doll body are hand-sculpted from polymer clay. The body consists of a wire armature, polyester fiberfill padding, and a fabric outer cover.

CLOTHING, HAIR, AND ACCESSORIES

Materials used for clothing are chamois, leather, fur, and occasionally, natural fiber cloth. All clothing is hand-stitched. The hair is fashioned from various materials, including mohair (most frequently used) and human hair. Accessories and beadwork are made by the doll artist.

EACH DOLL IS AN ORIGINAL

Because the clay parts of each doll are individually hand-sculpted, each doll is one-of -a -kind. For example, in a series of five Eagle Dancers, no two will be exactly alike. Each doll is unique.

TYPICAL DOLL SUBJECTS

Doll subjects are Chiefs, warriors, dancers, buffalo hunters, mothers with cradleboard babies, story tellers, grandmothers, and many others. We also accept special requests, with a deposit. For special requests, write or call to discuss doll type, detailing, accessories, and price.

DOLL SIZES

The doll sizes described here are for the doll only, from the feet to the top of the head. The base is not included in this measurement. Base heights vary from 1 5/8 inches to 2 inches. An 18 inch doll on a 1 5/8 inch base would be 19 5/8 inches overall. Standing dolls average 17 to 19 inches in height. Seated dolls are approximately 14 to 15 inches tall.
